    An Indian voice, hard to understand, inquired if there were solar panels on my roof, I asked where he was ringing from & he said Blacktown, I asked where the railway station was in Blacktown & he did not know. Another hoax call. Call ended.

    Another scam about you or someone in your household having had an accident in the last 12 months. Does come up as Sydney number rather than overseas.

    Claimed to be from Motor Vehicle Place about an accident I was in. I haven't been in any and they knew my name but they were obviously in a call centre due to background noise.

    The number called me and my phone said no spam activity so I answered and said "Hello *name* speaking?" but I heard nothing on the end, so took my mobile away from my ear for a split second to make sure the call was not connected, but it was.

    I went to listen again to see if someone was there but it was an robotic voice and I caught the end of something that said: "this is an automated global call service, non of our technicians are available to take your call.".

    WTF?

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
