    I received a call telling me to call this number. It is the 3rd time in the last 2 months, obviously a scam. Just ignore this don't call back. If the ATO is going to investigate you they will, send you a letter to go to theyr office, no to call a 02 number.

    I had voice message from this number.

    It was a recorded message in well spoken British accent saying that I'm are under surveillance and investigation for tax fraud also I need to call the number that they gave 0283107290 to avoid arrest warrant.

    No doubt a "fee" would apply and my details would be needed to make it go away. Smells like scam to me !!

    I have had repeated calls from this number over the last couple of days. Even though I knew it was a scam it was still a bit upsetting.

    I also received this call which was left as a voicemail message. Received on a Sunday so obviously not the ATO but agree that it is unnerving and could create very unnecessary distress for an unwitting or elderly, frail person with no family support.

    I got this call today.

    The fact that it is a computer synthesized message is a clear indicator of a scam.

    I don't think ATO would ever notify people through automated synthesized messages.

    Just received a recorded message saying "There has been a legal case filed against you. Pertaining to tax evasion". I just hung up on them. These grubs need to found and charged as there would be a lot of people out there that would not think that is fake and would be ripped off by these people.

    Coincidentally we are in the process of organizing a tax repayment schedule for an outstanding debt. Don't know if it is coincidence but it is unnerving.

    This message is so fake that it is almost funny. The biggest indicator is that there is addressed to "you" not a named person, it sound to make you scared therefore to act promptly. Annoying thing is that I've received three messages like that in a raw, recorded by different voices and worded differently but more or less saying same thing. The other number to urge me to call was 03 8751 7055. If you get message like that, just ignore it, please.

    Had this message this morning and obviously this message was made up from a word library. Mistakes make me think it's probably Indian. They use the word revert instead of respond and I have come across this before. Anyway, fear not, they're just a con site.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
