    This is not an Optus number. I received a call as well, did not answer and as always, if it looks like a scam, put it on aeroplane mode while it is ringing... The scammer will get a not connected signal and will not try again. I know it is not Optus as I work for Optus.

    This is a legitimate number. There are currently National Broadband Network issues where I live; I reported to Optus when my internet went down a couple of days ago; this is the number my case manager called me back on this morning to advise progress. Issue with National Broadband Network, not telcos. (June 2022)

    Scam call, saying he was from Optus billing. I was at a medical appointment so I just said I was hanging up. The number was probably spoofed.. There is definitely no reason for Optus to call me about my account.

    Also seemed to know about my recent Optus order. Was getting missed call messages from this number right at the same time Optus pretty much left the same message.

    Pretended to be Optus, somehow knew about my recent order. I hung up when they started trying to transfer my number and asked for the verification/security code. I messaged Optus through their app and they confirmed it was a scam caller.

    Called saying they were from Optus re the 2G fade out. Indian accent and the number didn't look like Optus so told him I didn't want any further info and hung up. Persistent guy phoned again straight away so hung up again. Going by these other comments certainly was'nt Optus...

    This number called me and when I answered it just hung up. Same thing happened last week but it was a slightly different number, also from Sydney but I didn't answer cause I don't have any reason to be called by a random number atm.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
