Recieved a call from this number. Gentleman on the end of the line identified himself as calling from Telstra, had my full name. Told me my IP address had been made public and my personal information was at risk.
I am not even 40yrs old. And this was very convincing, very professional. When I said I wanted a reference number as I wanted to confirm with Telstra that this wasn’t a scam call. He was very happy to provide me with his name and employer ID.
On calling Telstra I was advised this is a known scam, however the callers are getting better and are sounding more and more legitimate. I was surprised how convincing they were. Luckily I gave them no information. Please be extremely aware and extra vigilant of calls especially anything that urges you to act immediately. Telstra has today told me they will never call for issues of this nature.
