Rang and I didn't pick up - I called back, phone message said it was from PayPal. I am going to block the number.
Phone identified as possible fraud -it went to messagebank and no message was left.
The caller used an automated voice to inform me that there was an unusual PayPal transaction for $499.99. They prompted me to press a number to speak to a representative, which appears to be a scam attempt.
An automated female voice with an Asian accent called me, claiming to be from PayPal. The recording stated that a charge of $299.99 would be processed on my account and prompted me to press 1, 2, or 9 for different actions. I didn't engage with the options and have reported this incident to the ACCC as it seemed highly fraudulent.
I called the number back and it was a recording claiming to be PayPal customer service, advising that there was a customer purchase of $299 going to be deducted from my account and to hold the line and they would connect me to a live person. I hung up.
After calling the number back less than an hour later, I discovered that it isn't registered on any network. This suspicious activity is enough for me to block the number.
I received multiple calls from this number regarding a supposed purchase I was meant to have made last Tuesday. It's been a repetitive nuisance, and I have blocked the number now.
