Apparently it's another ploy to get personal details to onsell to various criminal elements.

When I requested an explanation before giving personal details he said there was no point in continuing the phone call and disconnected.

I spoke to a legitimate Telstra consultant who confirmed this number is not associaged with Telstra and to ignore the calls. As the automated message asks for identifying information from me, this is definitely a scam.
