    Received SMS from +61 488 822 474.

    Hi, Please call 1300910486 immediately to discuss an important matter. Quote 4662949 when you call. Thank you, Dun & Bradstreet.

    When I called back on that 1300 number a guy in American accent asked to identify myself with Name, DOB and address. I declined to do so as I am not sure if it was D&B. He said he can only provide information to the person for security reasons and expressed that he was calling on behalf of human services. Did not sound dodgy but I have no debt from human services. They have my address and phone number etc so they should have contacted me. I told him that I will contact the department. I am seeing lot of people complaining about dodgy SMS. Not sure if this is legit. Only way to find is by contacting Human Services.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
