    I got a call yesterday and again today. Yes, the first call was a recorded message from an English woman's voice stating she is from the Tax Office. These criminals are very good at fooling you so be careful. I called the ATO to report it and they said that all their phone numbers are 1300 numbers; not a number such as this one.

    The ATO also said they are on to it, so it's just a matter of time before these idiots get caught.

    I just received a prerecorded call from a female voice in accented English telling me that my tax is delinquent and I may be arrested. I can see it's a scam, but some poor pensioner could get taken. Where is the police fraud squad when it comes these scams?

    I received a phone call on Friday, was a female. She stated.

    She was from the tax department and I will be arrested for tax avoidance and need to phone this number urgently to clear up the matter. I guess they will be waiting a very long time as I have put in my tax form.

    Just picked up two phone messages on my landline number from a pre-recorded scripted message sing an English lady's voice claiming to be from the Tax Office that my Tax account was delinquent and they are going to execute a warrant for my arrest. I was told to call 0248009049 to sort it out. It's obviously a scam. Surely the Tax office or Telstra can shut these scams down.

    I received two mobile calls and two fixed landline calls today. The message is recorded and is a female speaking, telling me that my account is delinquent and to call this number. The people who do this are nasty and I don't understand why somewhere between the internet suppliers and the police that these scams cannot be squashed. I once asked my isp to do something and they wanted to charge me for the privilege.

    This is definitely a tax scam.

    They tell you the Australian Federal police will come to your house and take you away for 72 hours untill you sort this matter out then they say there is another option where you can pay the of 4000 dollars or whatever amount to clear the debt.

    We got an indian guy who got all angry once we started to question him asking him for his badge number and name.

    Luckily we were lucky enough to catch on to him.

    We have reported this number as a scammer.

    Some people in this world a pathetic scumbags.

    I hope they get caught.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
