    I have reported this number as a scam to the ATO plus another similar number from a few days ago. In the meantime I have blocked both numbers but expect they will chop and change. Beware!

    Interesting that this scammer has a flurry of complaints in 2017 and quiet since? Received a call on my home phone today, mid-morning, no message left. Checked here, looks like they have started up again for 2023 tax time. Now blocked but I have a feeling they will jump around with other numbers to dodge the block.

    Automated voice, male, British accent, saying I was being audited by the ATO. I hung up. There is no way the ATO would notify citizens about an audit via an automated service.

    Surely the Telco's can let the police know who has this number as someone must be paying the phone bill.... I say lock them up with the rest of the crims and leave us alone. By the time I get home of an afternoon the last thing I want is an annoying phone call from these low life parasites.

    Luckily my phone has a block feature so I have blocked the number after 4 calls. Spoke to my Tax Accountant who advised if you go through a Taxation Accountant then the Taxation Office would contact them direct and not the person directly.

    Just got called. I am an Accountant. Individuals don't have Registered Office addresses. Companies do. And they are quite often the Accountants business address. Or an officer of the company such as the Company Secretary. So the scammers haven't even done their homework effectively! AND the ATO would NEVER breach privacy laws and leave messages with details! Have you ever called the ATO? They ask SEVERAL security questions to verify you are who you say you are...

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
